Early Life
Bilzerian was born on December 7, 1980, in Tampa, Florida. His parents are financial analyst Paul Bilzerian and Terri Steffen. He is a half-Armenian descendant through his father. Bilzerian’s father was a Wall Street corporate raider who provided trust funds to both his sons. Bilzerian claims to have studied at the University of Florida for four years, majoring in Business and Criminology, but it is unclear whether he ever graduated.
Early Career of Dan Bilzerian
Dan Bilzerian joined the Navy in 1999. In 2000, he successfully completed the SEAL program’s second hell week, but a disagreement with a program administrator forced him out before graduation. He majored in Criminology and Business at the University of Florida following his discharge from the Navy.
Poker
Bilzerian finished 180th at the 2008 World Series of Poker Main Event. In 2010, Bluff magazine named him one of the funniest poker players on Twitter. Bilzerian was sued in November 2011 for debt of honor winnings they had received in no-contract poker games run by Tobey Maguire. Alex Rodriguez was publicly defended by Bilzerian this year against claims that he had gambled illegally, claiming he was present when the supposed gambling event took place and Rodriguez was not. Bilzerian is the CEO of Ignite International Brands Ltd., a company that sells electronic cigarettes, CBD oils, water bottles, and vodka. Legal Issues
A lawsuit was eventually filed by Bilzerian against the producers of Lone Survivor for the amount of $1 million he had loaned the company against a minimum of 8 minutes of screen time and 80 words of dialogue. He only had one line of dialogue to speak in the final version of the film. Dan’s lawsuit demanded $1.2 million, his original loan amount plus 20%. But it was eventually dropped since Dan attracted so much attention during the film’s release, and he reportedly ended up making $1.5 million from his investment.
Vanessa Castano sued Dan for $1 million dollars for injuries she sustained during an altercation with Dan in August 2014. Dan claimed Vanessa and another woman attacked his girlfriend. A Miami nightclub banned Dan after he kicked Vanessa Castano in the face during an altercation.
Later that year, Dan was sued by pornographic actress Janice Griffith, who allegedly fell off a roof and into an infinity pool during a photo shoot for Hustler. The accident left Griffith with a broken foot after she fell short of the pool and hit the edge. She requested $85,000 from Bilzerian, but he rejected her request. Griffith then sued both Hustler and Bilzerian.
Bilzerian was arrested at LAX Airport that same month on bomb-making charges. The charges were subsequently dropped, and he was released immediately. In February 2015, he pleaded no contest to scotting a fire that was in the open. $17,231 was fined to him.

Bilzerian beat Goldstein on March 9, 2011 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway by $385,000. Bilzerian raced a 1967 AC Cobra, while Goldstein was behind the wheel of a Ferrari 458 Italia. Bilzerian is said to have suffered two heart attacks before the age of 32 as the result of his drug addiction.
Bilzerian lived in Hollywood Hills, Los Angeles, and Las Vegas in 2014. On August 28, 2018, Bilzerian and his brother Adam, as well as his father Paul, travelled to Armenia in order to take the oaths that will enable them to obtain Armenian citizenship and be part of the Armenian Armed Forces.
